Procedures:

Rumor has it that the Los Angeles Police have changed their procedures for stopping pickups.

After the two incidents (see below) the new procedure is to continue firing  in order that there are no complaints about unjustifiable shootings.

No victims were available for comment.

THem Vs Us

Think about this:

Hundreds of people are killed in the greater LA area every year. Some, of course, are drug dealers killed buy other drug dealers and such. But many aren’t.

Yet the cops accept these killings of innocents as normal. Part of the day’s events. Just one of those things.

But some dude threatens cops and cop’s families. They mobilize EVERYONE. They shoot at shadows. Nearly kill anyone who they perceive (however wrongly, see my previous posts). The entire LA basin’s police force is focused on one thing, killing Chris Dorner.

Now I understand that they see him as a threat. But it looks to me like the police administration are willing to spend a great deal of overtime putting cops on the street looking for this guy, and in protective details for their own. But they can’t be bothered to do so for the “average” person on the street. No overtime to clean out the bad areas, no manhunts for folks who kill only ordinary citizens.

Why is that?

And another thought:

Christopher Dorner isn’t Superman. He doesn’t appear to have more than average skills with firearms. Nor does he seem to be any more dangerous than  the average firearm owner anywhere else. Yet he has the cops peeing in their boots. Shooting at noises and shadows. Scared enough that they are shooting first and checking later. (and luckily, apparently not aiming either)

If people chose to, (and lets face it, there are more of us than there are of them, and it is a good thing that we are all decent law abiding citizens, at least so far) how much fear, chaos and damage could we citizens do to the police should we choose to make that happen? To emulate the example of Christopher Dorner? To go hunting? To target them? What happens when death comes from 600 yards away? When ambushes happen?  What happens when the citizens grow tired of the abuses?

‘Cause the only thing that keeps us at bay is the rule of (and belief in) the law. Common decency and the fact that we respect (so far) the laws enough to overlook much of the behavior of the police.

Should that change, then what? What will they do? One dude has them scared. What happens when it becomes many people? People who have real serious skills, not cop level skills. People who practice for fun, not because it is part of the job. Think that’ll be different than ganging up 10-1 on some street level gang banger and his friends at night?

Methinks this needs pondering.

If I had a pickup

Any pickup, Any truck at all…. and I lived in or near LA…..Any color, any make, any model, any age….

I think I’d park it right now, in order to keep the LA law enforcement community from mistaking it for one driven (Or, more likely abandoned by now) by Christopher Dorner, the fugitive.

Seems that the cops in the greater Los Angeles area can’t determine color, make or model of a truck. Can’t determine the size or race of the driver. Luckily for one pickup driver, David Perdue, they can’t hit anything that they shoot at either. I figure he is, thanks to the Torrance cops, set for life(after the lawsuit).

David Perdue was on his way to sneak in some surfing before work
Thursday morning when          police flagged him down. They asked who he was and
where he was headed, then sent him on his way.

Seconds later, Perdue’s attorney said, a Torrance police cruiser
slammed into his pickup and officers opened fire; none of the bullets
struck Perdue.

His pickup, police later explained, matched the description of the one belonging to Christopher Jordan Dorner
— the ex-cop who has evaded authorities after allegedly killing three
and wounding two more. But the pickups were different makes and colors.
And Perdue looks nothing like Dorner: He’s several inches shorter and
about a hundred pounds lighter. And Perdue is white; Dorner is black.

“I don’t want to use the word buffoonery
but it really is unbridled police lawlessness,” said Robert Sheahen,
Perdue’s attorney. “These people need training and they need restraint.”

The incident involving Perdue was the second time police looking for the fugitive former LAPD officer opened fire on someone else. The shootings have raised concerns that the fear Dorner has instilled has added another layer of danger.

Seriously. This is scary. I realize that the man is a danger to police…I realize that he is a dangerous individual. That he has a mission, and has killed or wounded several people, all police officers or related to the police department.

But is there any excuse for this behavior? Any excuse for endangering the lives of the citizens that the police are sworn to “serve and protect?

Rule one: “Know your target and what is beyond it”…..Fail.

If you, or I, or any group of gun people were to handle their firearms in such an unsafe manner, we’d be disarmed, jailed, and punished…. and rightfully so. Are the cops disarmed? Jailed?

Chris Dorner must have them TERRIFIED. Scared shitless. Absolutely quaking in their jackboots.

But their behavior is inexcusable. Period. Shooting at a white guy because he is in a pickup of a different make and model when they are looking for a black guy in another pickup of a different type is just plain crazy. Apparently, the cops are a greater danger to the public than the fugitive they are seeking.

These incidents show, however, the mentality that the police in larger cities have.  THey really aren’t worried about the safety of anyone but their own.

And that should frighten and anger you.

Plan accordigly.

Yeah,….What she said

The lovely Ms. X points out that the media hides the fact that some of our whacko spree killers are not so terribly conservative after all, and some are, actually, really left wing supporters.

A bit of research will show that this IS TRUE.  Additionally, the media goes to great lengths to hide the fact that they too have their share of violent psychotic killers. (In fact, were we to bother to accumulate statistics, I believe that they would have a significantly higher percentage of such people).

But the media and the left (but I repeat myself) go to great lengths to conflate spree killers of any kind woith conservatives and (specially) the Tea Party.

Sadly, many people believe whatever the “Nightly Newz” tells them, never questioning, and therefore forms an opinion without any (actual) knowledge with which to do so.

Rob Allen has it NAILED

“One ex-cop has the nation’s largest police force shitting their britches.
Imagine what would happen if there was gun confiscation and just a few thousand gun owners pulled something similar.”
How many people (innocent bystanders, I mean) would the cops kill in their quest to remove firearms from people like you and I?
I am likely the LEAST dangerous of the people I hang with. And you really don’t want to come trying to take my guns. My friends? Dude, it’ll be ugly.

Only the police should have guns

Because theya re the “Only Ones” with the proper training.

Right.

Women delivering newspapers in Torrance shot in manhunt for ex-cop

PHOTOS: Manhunt for ex-LAPD officer

Two women who were shot by Los Angeles police in Torrance early
Thursday during a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer were delivering
newspapers, sources said.

The women, shot in the 19500 block of Redbeam Avenue, were taken to area hospitals, Torrance police Lt. Devin Chase said. They were not identified. One was shot in the hand and the other in the back, according to Jesse Escochea, who captured video of the victims being treated.

If this were you, or me, or any other concealed carry permit owner, the hue and cry would be loud, hysterical, and strident. The calls for repeal of CCL permits would be growing.

And you and I would be in jail.

But not so the Police.

Why is that?

Re: Postal type office stuff

It occurs to me that if the Post Office didn’t give such deep discounts to the Junk Mail senders, but rather forced them to pay closer to (like circa 70% of) the cost that the rest of us do, then we’d not have the issues either.

Of course, if they decreased Junk Mail, then I’d have issues keeping my woodstove fed, as USPS delivered junk mail paper is about 25% of our heat source for the year.

How much will they cut the labor costs?

Since the U.S. Post Office is gonna cut approximately 17 % of it’s service, are we gonna see a 17% reduction in labor costs? Are all those folks gonna get their Benefits cut by 17% too?

I mean, I am getting only 5/6 of what I was getting last week. Since the service is less, shouldn’t those people who work (and get paid a LOT for what is, essentially, what would be classified as an unskilled job) get a reduction to 5/6 of their retirement and 5/6 of their insurance benefits too?

Look: somehow the USPS cannot stop hemorrhaging money. It may well be the failure of management, or it may be the workers, or a combination of both. I really don’t care. If they can’t figure out how to do it at a reasonable cost and make it at least break even, then perhaps the lot of them, managers and workers, should be tossed and people found who CAN work in a productive manner. I have never seen a postal worker with any sense of hustle. Never seen one run (unless being chased by a large dog) never seen one appear to be hurrying. Ever.

But seriously, since the consumer (that BTW, is you and me and every other resident, business etc in the US) is getting 17% less service, then are the workers and management getting 5/6 of the pay and benefits? I mean, starting at the Postmaster General and working down.

Bet not.

If not, then WHY NOT?

Bet this one doesn’t make the news

Dude says what most of you are thinking.

We need more of this. This needs to be spread wide.

The Media is shaping the message, the testimony and the attitude of the public. WHile for many, the media will not change their beliefs (for or against), there are many who will not bother to learn, but who will lap up the message that the Media gives them.

Spread the message. Email your friends who are on the fence. Show them the “Rest of the Story”.
