Something to think about…

I have said similar things before, but TAM SAYS IT BETTER.

The folks attending the Tea Parties are the 50% that actually work, not the 50% that don’t.

It’s easy to get a bunch of un employed folks who live off the largesse of the gubmint to protest for more freebies…But things have gotten to the point where folks who would normally be at work are taking the time to voice their opinion.

Again, I say “the sleeping dragon has been awakened”.

2010 and 2012 should be interesting.

April 15th Tea Party Pics, Porter County IN.

Lots and lots of signs…

I spoke with one professor from VU….He was trying to get a handle on things….It was funny trying to see him attempt to force what he saw into his (liberal) mindset.

It just didn’t fit into his worldview… I almost felt sorry for him.

Tea Party… -1

The NWIndianaPatriots held their Tea Party Rally today, Wednesday the 14th.

600 or so attendees, only 2 folks who tried to stir things up, only halfheartedly.

The crowd was calm.

Lots of support from folks driving by.

Thanks to Faith Jones, the organizer.

Will add a post with pics later, if any turn out to be decent.

I, unfortunately, have to actually work on 4/15. I would call in sick, but I run my own business. Besides, many folks who won’t work need my tax contribution to keep on getting welfare, free cell phones, and such.

So I will miss the big Tea Party in Chicago.

Bummer.

BAG day

“for there are many like it, but this one is mine”

Ordered a new Kimber for carry. It should be here next week.

It is, after all, Piss off Sarah Brady Buy a Gun day….

And, I got a screamin’ deal on it.

My Para is just too hard to find accessories for.  You cannot get grips or decent night sights without having someone custom fit something.

and it IS Buy a Gun Day….

So I did.

Besides, I like 1911’s. You can never have too many.

Just so you know

Who Kilroy was….

WHO THE HECK WAS KILROY?
In 1946 the American Transit Association, through its radio program, “Speak to America ,” sponsored a nationwide contest to find the REAL Kilroy, offering a prize of a real trolley car to the person who could prove himself to be the genuine article.

Almost 40 men stepped forward to make that claim, but only James Kilroy from Halifax , Massachusetts , had evidence of his identity.

Kilroy was a 46-year old shipyard worker during the war who worked as a checker at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy .
His job was to go around and check on the number of rivets completed.
Riveters were on piecework and got paid by the rivet.
Kilroy would count a block of rivets and put a check mark in semi-waxed lumber chalk, so the rivets wouldn’t be counted twice.
When Kilroy went off duty, the riveters would erase the mark.
Later on, an off-shift inspector would come through and count the rivets a second time, resulting in double pay for the riveters.
One day Kilroy’s boss called him into his office.
The foreman was upset about all the wages being paid to riveters, and asked him to investigate.
It was then he realized what had been going on.
The tight spaces he had to crawl in to check the rivets didn’t lend themselves to lugging around a paint can and brush, so Kilroy decided to stick with the waxy chalk.
He continued to put his checkmark on each job he inspected, but added KILROY WAS HERE in king-sized letters next to the check, and eventually added the sketch of the chap with the long nose peering over the fence and that became part of the Kilroy message.
Once he did that, the riveters stopped trying to wipe away his marks.

Ordinarily the rivets and chalk marks would have been covered up with paint.
With war on, however, ships were leaving the Quincy Yard so fast that there wasn’t time to paint them.
As a result, Kilroy’s inspection “trademark” was seen by thousands of servicemen who boarded the troopships the yard produced.
His message apparently rang a bell with the servicemen, because they picked it up and spread it all over Europe and the South Pacific.
Before war’s end, “Kilroy” had been here, there, and everywhere on the long hauls to Berlin and Tokyo .
To the troops outbound in those ships, however, he was a complete mystery; all they knew for sure was that some jerk named Kilroy had “been there first.”
As a joke, U.S. servicemen began placing the graffiti wherever they landed, claiming it was already there when they arrived.
Kilroy became the U.S. super-GI who had always “already been” wherever GIs went.
It became a challenge to place the logo in the most unlikely places imaginable (it is said to be atop Mt. Everest , the Statue of Liberty, the underside of l’Arc De Triomphe, and even scrawled in the dust on the moon.)
As the war went on, the legend grew.
Underwater demolition teams routinely sneaked ashore on Japanese-held islands in the Pacific to map the terrain for coming invasions by U.S. troops (and thus, presumably, were the first GI’s there).
On one occasion, however, they reported seeing enemy troops painting over the Kilroy logo! In 1945, an outhouse was built for the exclusive use of Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill at the Potsdam conference.
Its’ first occupant was Stalin, who emerged and asked his aide (in Russian), “Who is Kilroy?”

To help prove his authenticity in 1946, James Kilroy brought along officials from the shipyard and some of the riveters.
He won the trolley car, which he gave to his nine children as a Christmas gift and set it up as a playhouse in the Kilroy front yard in Halifax , Massachusetts .

It was not “Teh Awesome”…….

So, falling prey to the hype about the KFC Double Down sandwich, I went to the local KFC.

While the sandwich was good, it was not great.

Nor did I have a heart attack after eating it, despite the warnings. It’s two pieces of white meat Original Recipe covering some fairly spicy pepper jack cheese and some less than spectacular bacon with some sort of mayo based “Secret Sauce”.  Tasty, but not “all that”.  It won’t replace the sandwich.

And, of course, there is the wonderful experience at the KFC itself. The service (if it can be called that) at the local KFC remains, much like my visit last year, abysmally poor. There were a pair of twins (young men) who had some hustle and some concept of customer service, but the visit overall was not a “quality dining experience”. The other 6 people behind the counter were not, shall we say, customer service oriented

What is it about KFC that mostly attracts workers with 2 speeds…slow, and dead?

All I can say is that the sandwich, while good, was not awesome, and a good sandwich will not cause me to return to KFC for such a poor experience.

I’d rather make this at home…

Before you know it

you too can be prepped for major life disruptions..

Here’s how.

Will you be prepared for armageddon (and I armageddon tired of trying to be prepared for everything….)? No, you will not .

But following the above method will indeed make you more prepped than 90+%  of the folks in this here US of A. And having some preps give you options if and when. And if not, then in 5 years or so, you can amke agnerous donation to the local food pantry.

Think. Act. Prep.

Be smarter than most people.

What Obama care will look like 3 years in

Like any student of economics (or anyone with sense) would expect…..The Massachusetts insurance market (the whole thing is Mass. is “Obamacare Lite”) is falling apart

See HERE for the Massachusetts insurance market chaos. Right now YOU CAN”T BUY INSURANCE IN Mass.

You cannot expect private insurance companies to operate at a loss. Many already operate in a not-for profit mode in Massachusetts anyway.

Remember, if you think health care is expensive right now, just wait until it is controlled by the government….
