Lottsa truth there:

I stole this from TAM, but it is too good not to repost.

If you have no idea, and can’t do more than fear what you don’t understand, then everything looks like a Conspiracy or a Danger.

It’s easy to fear what you can’t understand.

Even easier when someone you don’t know, whose qualifications you don’t know, posts it online to fit your confirmation bias.

Remember:

Wednesday Words of Wisdom 16

(back at it after the Holidays and my just plain running out of time to post these)

I wish you all, each and every one of you, a happy and fulfilling and prosperous 2025

Now to the wisdoms:

“You may often regret your words, but you seldom regret your silence”

“Don’t explain your philosophy, demonstrate it”

“Do not allow your past to control your present”

“Mistakes are not failures: rather, they are stepping stones to wisdom”.

“If someone cannot respect you, then they cannot be a partner, nor a friend” (this took me a long time to realize)

“Just keep swimming.”

“True love is a connection that cannot be defined: For no reason or explanation, you are unequivocally and powerfully attracted to that person. It is when you cannot define how, or why, that person holds such a special place in your heart”

“The only person you should try to be better than, is who you were yesterday”

“Best to stay away from narcissists, they will suck the life out of you slowly”.

“He reminds me of me, before the weight of the world crushed my spirit.”

Just say “Fuck It”, take that next step….Try one more time.….just because. Just to spit in the eye of the fates. What have you to lose?

Well, that’s a terrible way to start the new year:

Truck drives into crowd of revelers on Bourbon St in New Orleans.

At least 10 dead, 30 or more injured.

“Not Terrorism related” (Innit interesting how they always say that when it WAS terrorism related)

2 cops shot by driver of truck.

My prayers for those who were killed or injured, and their families and friends.

Apparently the only barricades in place were simple orange and white sawhorses rather than anything more substantial…Interesting, if true. I remember substantial bollards  on most streets last time I was there.

We have no data on who the driver is, or his ancestry or religion as of this posting. But I bet, from the details that are emerging, that this is a muslim male between 25 and 40.

One thing I notice: All the major media, ABC, NBC. CBS, Fox, etc. are all commenting on the fact that much of the immediate care to the injured victims was given by bystanders from the crowd. Of course, all the commenters are from places like New York and LA and this incident happened in New Orleans…. I guess the folks in New York are more likely to simply stand around and gawk and take cell phone video, while in other places, like NO, people actually do something. It seems to surprise the New York folks,.

ETA:

lets not jump to conclusions, aaand its muslims - south park aand it's ...

Asshole identified.

President Jimmy Carter has passed.

Lousy President, but, I think, a Really Good Man.

Decent, did his best, helped a lot of people, had principles, (and lived them!).

The world is bit less good today.
