When her lips are moving……

What complete and utter bullshit.

Either she is stupid, misinformed, or she thinks that you and I are stupid. Bet money on the latter.

“Mrs Clinton said the use of military-style assault weapons was a particular concern, and she would discuss reimposing a ban on their sale.

A previous US decision to lift a ban on such sales had been a mistake, she told the NBC television network.

Earlier on her visit she admitted that America’s appetite for drugs was helping to fuel the violence.

Some 8,000 people have died in drug-related violence in Mexico over the past two years.

‘Insatiable’

Mrs Clinton said assault weapons did not belong on anyone’s street.

She was referring to a ban on the sale of such powerful guns which was in effect in the United Sates between 1994 and 2004.

“During that time,” said Mrs Clinton, “police in America were able to drive down crime because they didn’t have to worry about these assault weapons getting into the hands of criminals and gang members.”

More BS at the link.

This story is repeated over and over and over by the lapdogs of the DNC Mainstream Media despite the fact that it is obviously untrue to anyone who bothers to examine the facts. I own several “AK-47 assault weapons” all of which are legal to own. None of them are full auto, like the cartels are using. I cannot go into a gun store or gun show and buy a fully automatic AK. Nor can I buy a grenade launcher or a light anti tank weapon.

And that is what they are using in Mexico. Not what we can buy here in the US. We cannot even come close to that without breaking a whole bunch of laws.

The rest of the BS about the effectiveness of the Scary Looking Guns // Evil Black Rifles Assault Weapons Ban is just that, BS. And they know it. But they think you are stupid enough to believe them

But they never care about the truth, do they? You can tell when she is lying…look at her lips…..

ETA: “But Agent Austin Banks with the ATF says it’s people, not guns, who cause tragedies. “It’s not the guns. It’s the guns in the hands of the people who are prohibited from owning them that cause problems in America.” According to the FBI’s crime stats, the total crime rate in the United States dropped 1% when the ban was in place.”

Drug test

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090326/D975MFE80.html

So the states are considering drug tests for recipients of public aid. About damned time! The rest of us are (generally) subject to random drug tests. In fact, over 85% of the private workforce is subject to random drug testing. If the source of your income or housing is the federal or state government, why should you be treated any differently?

“It’s not fair” cries the ACLU. Fuck ’em. If they want the money taken out of the paychecks of the hard working people who have to be drug free, then they can at least meet that same standard. If not, well then, maybe they can use their drug money to eat and pay rent. I really don’t care.

I’d like to see anyone getting food stamps or any aid “for the kids” like WIC to have to be held to the same standard. Same for publicly subsidized housing. It;s nto too much to ask that they pee in a cup once in a while to keep their freebies.

I see also that there is a small outcry for those who are on unemployment to be tested, and those that say that it’s not fair to the unemployed either.

If ya got time to smoke dope or crack or whatever particular chemical you like, then you got time to find a job.

Or starve. It’s all the same to me.

An hour without power

so this might be interesting:

It’s worldwide: http://www.ireport.com/ir-topic-stories.jspa?topicId=235057

An hour without power. It won’t be anything but a “feel good” gesture, but it might make people think a bit.

How many people will realize how dependent we are on electricity?? (much less take steps to remedy that)….

Most folks couldn’t go a day without power, of that I am sure.

I am not grid dependent. I am hooked up to the grid, but I don’t need it, at least not for a while.. But most folks are not as prepared as I am.

How about you?

ETA: Lawdog has a slightly different take on this.

Signs of spring.

Soon I will curse the lawn and the speed at which it grows, and ultimately, at the end of summer, the leaves.

But today, I rejoice the beginnings of new growth.

Go HERE for a long treatise on Liberty and Tyranny. Yeah, I know, it’s a book review. But it is a damned good one…. Part 2 is HERE

It is observed that the Statist is dissatisfied with the condition of his own existence. He condemns his fellow man, surroundings, and society itself for denying him the fulfillment, success, and adulation he believes he deserves. He is angry, resentful, petulant, and jealous. He is incapable of honest self-assessment and rejects the honest assessment by others of himself, thereby evading responsibility for his own miserable condition, The Statist searches for significance and even glory in a utopian fiction of his mind’s making, the earthly attainment of which, he believes, is frustrated by those who do not share it. Therefore he must destroy the civil society, piece by piece.

For the Statist, liberty is not a blessing but the enemy. It is not possible to achieve Utopia if individuals are free to go their own way. The individual must be dehumanized and his nature delegitimized. Through persuasion, deception, and coercion, the individual must be subordinated to the state.

More at the link. It’s a bold and stimulating look at statism.

I just bought a copy of the book.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

Thomas Jefferson (1743 – 1826)

So the TARP Program (original) was supposed to “purchase or insure up to $700 billion of “troubled” assets. “Troubled assets” are defined as “(A) residential or commercial mortgages and any securities, obligations, or other instruments that are based on or related to such mortgages, that in each case was originated or issued on or before March 14, 2008, the purchase of which the Secretary determines promotes financial market stability; and (B) any other financial instrument that the Secretary, after consultation with the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, determines the purchase of which is necessary to promote financial market stability, but only upon transmittal of such determination, in writing, to the appropriate committees of Congress.”

That didn’t happen, did it? Instead he money went to let banks buy other banks. Nothing was used to buy securities to help the banks out so that they would have money to make loans…

So NOW the new secretary of the treasury has a NEW PLAN that will do what the original $700 BILLION was supposed to in the first place…and didn’t.

So $1trillion plus the original $700+billion…All to make things better again, again. WHo is running things, the government or the bankers?

I’m waiting for the next “bait and switch” .

Perhaps Jefferson was right.

Via the Freeholder we get THIS.

Sad. Embarrassing. And this is a US representative.

I assume that she is a graduate of public schools.

THIS WOMAN CAN BARELY READ! She isn’t even sure what the words she is saying are supposed to sound like. And she is a representative of the people of Florida. Making choices that affect the country. Isn’t there at least a test for our legislators? Like IQ and literacy? (I know that that there isn’t, but for gods sake, there should be…….)

This woman has a Communications/Speech degree from Edward Waters College in Jacksonville….and all sorts of other “education”. Learn more about her here. Makes you wonder what they teach in Florida…..or was she a quota graduate? I know freshmen in high school who can do a better job giving a speech. I know 6 year olds who can read better.

Sad. Very sad. Were I from Florida, I’d be embarrassed. As a Democrat (I’m not one) I’d be mortified…Were I black, I’d be more embarrassed.

Luckily for me, I am none of the above.

How to make money from a crisis.

Or how to pimp the government for cash during a crisis.

An interesting article on how the financial crash began and how it was managed exploited after the crash began.

It’s a LONG LONG article, but it really sheds some light on how and why the crisis happened, and what Paulsen did with TARP money.

THe scary part is that it is probably as accurate portrayal as we are ever gonna get.

Makes you think of ropes, and trees, and politicians and government workers in general…….
