So I spent half the day hiking the dunes and the beach on the South Shore of Lake Michigan at the Dunes National Park. Part of the National Lakeshore.

Home of the “Singing Sands”…..No really. The sand grains are nearly perfectly spherical and squeak when you walk on them.

It was a brisk 35 degrees with an 18 knot gusting wind, but I dressed for it.

The scenery isn’t spectacular, but it was pretty.

(That’s about 2 1/2 miles of beach…there was another 4 or so behind me)

All told, about 11 miles of walking on sand (My legs are telling me that I either need to do that more often, or never again) partly in the woods along the trails at the top and backside of the dunes, and partly on the lakeshore. The elevations changes from the beach to the top of the dunes was about 90 ft and I went up and down quite a few times.

I saw a total of 3 people until I was in the parking lot getting ready to leave. The solitude there was very nice.

I did pick up about 2 cubic feet of trash, but really not a lot for how far I walked. Mostly balloons that had fallen from the sly and were half-buried in the sand. Not the usual amount of bottles and plastic trash. No Covid masks, either.

Only two pieces of beach glass.

‘Twas a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Good for the blood pressure and calming to the soul. Better and closer than if I had been in church,…Know what I mean?

They never gave up trying. They didn’t really succeed in getting away, but they did break out of the camp. It cost 50 of ’em their lives.

Apparently the movie was fairly accurate, if not entirely so.

Hats off to them, wherever their souls might be.

Gotta love it when a person who has never flown a twin airplane of any kind, much less a twin Cessna, tells you that your landing are done wrong.

See, the Cessna twins, pretty much all of ’em, not just the 340’s, like a bit of power all the way to touchdown. Unlike many smaller airplanes, where you pull the throttle to idle as you pass over the numbers (or are at a point where the field is made), these airplanes (and lots of twins) land much more smoothly with a bit of power… not enough to keep flying, but just to smooth the rate of descent.. Not full stall landings like in a 172 .

Of course, some people are “experts” because they know what they were taught. Like cops who were told that the GLOCK is the greatest handgun, and therefore believe it to be true, some pilots only know what they know, and think that that applies to every other plane, even though they have never flown one except is Microsoft Flight Simulator (if that)

I don’t tell 737 pilots how to land those….I’ve never flown one, not even in a sim. I’m sure that is takes some additional skill and a different technique than my 340.

So we had the 10-7 attack on Israel….and that, while it killed a bunch of Israelis, so far hasn’t worked out all that well for the “Palestinians” who supported, aided, and abetted the Hamas fighters was perhaps the opening move of the Islamic state…

Now we have a terrorist attack in Russia, who has a large muslim population and has similar issues with islamics who hate Caucasians…..non muslims. At last reports about a hundred forty dead at a concert in Moscow.

I’ll go 7:3 that it happens here in less than a year, what with the tens of thousands (or more) illegal Islamic invaders that have joined the mass migration across the Southern Border aided by Joe Biden’s policies…..

At some point there will be a reckoning. Either the islamic people will choose to live in peace or the rest of the world will choose to eradicate the threat. Israel is apparently at that point, and the Russians are not known for their mild response to religious fanatic driven terrorism.

If it happens here then, I think, the gloves will come off.

Well, several, really.

Lots of money on these migrants. Good clothes, high end electronics, expensive phones. 

But they need help because they are poor and downtrodden?

And Biden’s policies let them in regardless if they claim “Asylum”.

Much like the overweight Mexicans and Venezuelans that supposedly “walked” thousands of miles. all clean and well dressed in unworn clothing.

Can we believe anything we are being told?

How are these Chinese folks getting here? Walking (as it that really happens with the other south and central americans) from China is kinda hard….are they flying, swimming? How?

Or even ex-military folks.

But just ’cause you worked for the Federal Government? Have a cushy job and great benefits?

That, while it made the local news and (some of) the international news services…..the apparent execution of Bryan Malinowski by the ATF (or perhaps, possibly, it was a criminally bungled raid) is oddly absent in the National Media.

The details are somewhat murky as to shy it had to be a no knock raid at 6 AM though…or why he wasn’t picked up on the way to, or at, work instead of breaking down his door at 6 AM.
