Are they gonna try them like the Jan 6th protesters????

Pro-Palestinian protesters invade the Capitol: More than 100 demonstrators are arrested after demanding Israeli ceasefire by staging a sit-down in a rotunda in the Congress complex

If not, why not? What, exactly, is the difference?

A protest is a protest. Equal protection under the law. (and equal punishment as well!!)

Of course, THESE protests are wanted by the Democrats (or at least some Dems) so this will likely result in slaps on the wrists and no incarceration.

Changin ‘Hoods

So I was in my old stomping grounds of west Champaign….Illinois. Hadn’t been there for a few years.

Stopped by a hot dog stand I used to like for a Chili-Cheeze dog mid-late evening….   As I was driving to the place, I failed to see the subtly different demographic, signs….. the slightly less well kept neighborhoods, etc. The different cars, that sort of thing (‘Twas full dark, after all…).Not “bad ghetto” change, but the differences were there if you looked and bothered to notice. Sadly, I didn’t…..bother to look, that is. . After all, in my mind, this was a Safe Place…. Bad form for me. I wasn’t on guard here like I should have been. There was something nagging me at the back of my mind, but I wasn’t paying attention…

The lot was well lit, and the place was still well kept. Being a Tuesday night, there wasn’t that much traffic….But the cars that were there were not well kept and had a subtly different feel, as well as their occupants….different music and a different “vibe”… Not the crowd that I expected, if you know what I mean…….It was obvious that I was not part of the “Tribe” that hung out at this parking lot……(and by ‘Tribe” I don’t mean color, either)…When I got out of the car, a dude in the parking lot, (a very friendly (and stoned) black guy) said “Lobby Closed”. He was not confrontational, just helpfully letting me know. He was correct as well. The Lobby was indeed closed….a little before 8 PM… Nice of him to tell me, actually. I went through the drive through, and got my hot dog, parked, ate it with great gastronomic pleasure, then left, but with a bit more awareness as I went out of the neighborhood. Yep, different demographic…less well kept lawns, different styles of cars….and the fact that a place that 20 years ago was open until 2 AM even on a weeknight was now closing the lobby after 7 PM…..

It is sad to see how the changes are affecting the older neighborhood. The “Bad” part used to be a few miles to the north and east…now it is spreading to the other parts of the city. Things like gas stations now having bulletproof glass in front of the cashiers  and such….not oppressively so, but the signs are there……this is no longer the safe place it once was. Other parts of the city still are, perhaps, but crime and other factors have changed at least part of my old hangouts.

But the hot dog was still delicious.

A point to ponder….

It ain’t just Israel, either….Even Egypt does not want the “Palestinians”..

And they are keeping the border wall closed to “Humanitarian supplies” going over to Palestine as well as keeping those people from crossing over to Egypt.,

Why is it that no one wants these people and their immediate neighbors are hindering any aid to them?

One wonders if they are truly the trash that people say they are when no  one wants them.

Y know

It occurs (yet again) to me that the Israeli-Palestinian issue shows the complete and utter failure of the UN.

They’ve kept the issue from being resolved for years, yet they’ve also done nothing about the “Plight” of the “Palestinians” over those same years.

It’s almost like they want the issue to continue.

The Palestinians,, during that time, have helped terror groups hide amongst them, have totally trashed the areas set aside for them, have mismanaged the resources of their areas (aquifers, for but one example), have failed to do anything but breed more “Settlers” and have never done anything productive or constructive. And the UN had always made excuses for them.

And they are doing so again. Any other ethnic group that made war on another would have at least some condemnation by the UN, but these people instead are not. In fact, the UN is totally useless to both sides. Decrying the violence being meted out by Israel against the cancer that Gaza has become all the while failing to stop the attacks against Israel….and letting the funding for those groups (Hamas) doing the attacking continue.

Again and again, the UN shows us no reason to continue funding them and their exorbitant costs…and occupying some really expensive land and buildings in New York City…and every reason to end them as a working body….at least on the dime of the US, anyway. Let Brussels fund them.

Double standards for Rich Kids and Liberals….

‘Tis funny, those folks who did Blackface, or made what today are “racially insensitive” comments back in college 20 or more years ago are slammed today….castigated for them, and statements or actions from 20 years ago can be dredged up today and affect your employment status, your social standing, your ability to be a judge or a governor,  etc.  (at least if you are not some of the darlings of the Liberals, anyway)

But we should be tolerant of the folks who made the statements supporting the terrorists of Hamas…because “the students should be able to make mistakes in college and learn and grow over time as they’re presented with more information

I could tell the difference between terrorism, mass murder, hate crimes and anti-Semitism long before college. I’d bet you could too, and so can kids in High School today. We generally knew “wrong” from “right”… Standards may have changed a bit, but still, there were lines where everyone know which side they wanted to be on.

Making excuses for these kids is agreeing with their stance. Failure to condemn their stance is horrible, and shows your bias. There is no excuse for these rich Harvard kids’ position on terrorist acts. Period. They should be blacklisted.
