“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.”
Thomas Jefferson

And this is exactly what the majority of the people have failed to realize. The same group that voted for Barack Obama. While a part of that group elected him because he was black (both a majority of African-Americans AND a significant percentage of white people (which leads to a question of racism, but I think I’ll discuss that later) ) Others elected him because they wanted “change”. And change they are getting.

Soon they will have more “change” than they ever imagined. More government than they ever dreamed of. A government that is large enough to give them everything they want, (or so they think). Are they willing to accept it when that same government takes everything that they have?

Are there any thoughts as to how the government will pay for the things that Barack has promised to everyone? How much longer we can go forward when 40% of the people are paying for the other 60%? When Mr. Obama and his liberal, wealth hating, anti-establishment redistibutionist associates wish to raise the tax burden on that 40% to pay for an inefficent government with a redistibutionist agenda? Interesting how now folks who are planning to reduce their wages to reduce their taxes (going “John Galt“) are now “unpatriotic“. One might think that Mr. Obama and his associates feel that one segment of the population must be productive (in servitude?) to another, non productive segment. Do they really think that 40% who work and pay taxes should be required to support the other 60%? Will they?

What has become of this country where we have gotten to the point where we tax the producing citizens to the point where they are willing to reduce their workload (and therefore their income) because the are taxed to the point where it is no longer worth it to work harder for less money?

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation…You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Change. Indeed.

A truly paranoid individual might think that the “Stimulus Bill” was put forth with the intent of bringing down the stock market….thereby removing the fortunes of those who made a fair amount of money ( AKA the “Rich”) to bring them down to the level of those who made less, and therefore saved less. Thus making us all “equal”.

WTF? Don’t any of them pay taxes?

Or can’t the Obama cabinet team vet the cabinet picks? OR are all the liberals that Obama might choose (who support new taxes for you and me) simply (in their own mind, at least) above paying taxes?

Seems Mr.Kirk owes $10k in taxes.

See HERE for more details.

Of course, were that me, I’d be in jail or my house would have a lien on it.

Even the LA times is turning on Mr. Obama…

Near miss…..and it might come back!

A large asteroid narrowly missed the earth at 8:44 am ET. Missed, you say? Good, nothing to worry about? Sounds like a movie script, right? It’s not…It’s REAL. It flew by the earth only about twice as far out as some of our communications satellites.

Well, we only had 3 days notice for the tracking stations to determine it would miss……What would you have done had they determined it would hit WITH THREE DAYS NOTICE to prepare? Food would have sold out in MINUTES! How many people would have been killed in supermarket lines in the panic? I don’t mean to sound like a disaster survivalist, but…..

It’s not like you can hide or anything…..and the hit…err…impact would have the force of a large nuclear weapon. IF you are under it, there’s nothing you can do…your problems are over fairly quickly….But if it impacts a major metro area, what could we have done? What would the result be for the economy and supply chain?

Would FEMA have been able to help do anything after the impact? This would have made the devastation after Katrina look like a thunderstorm’s aftermath… Few people are prepared enough to deal with something like that……I know I ‘m not.

Just something to brighten your day.

Negligence. No other way to say it.

A Lake County IL. deputy gets a hard lesson in negligent handling of firearms.

“WAUKEGAN — A Lake County sheriff’s deputy was airlifted to a hospital Friday morning after accidentally shooting herself in the County Building parking garage”

“At 8 a.m. Friday, Harris was removing her service weapon from the trunk of her car on the third floor of the parking garage when the weapon fired, sending a single .40-caliber bullet through her right hand and into her abdomen.

Waukegan police investigated the scene and determined that the handgun’s trigger was pulled by a hanger that was stuck in the trigger guard, said Waukegan police Cmdr. Wayne Walles.
“It’s an accident. It could absolutely happen to anyone,” Sheriff Mark Curran said. “We pray for her and we feel terrible for her.””

While I feel bad for her, and hope she recovers fully, the plain fact is that the fault is hers. This is a hard lesson, but the fact remains that this sort of “accident” is the fault of the deputy. She failed to follow several steps, any one of which would have prevented this from happening. Either the firearm should have been unloaded with the slide locked back, OR the firearm should have been secured, either in a case or in the holster (or both). Shot by a coat hanger? Negligence plain and simple. Complacency with safety rules will always catch up to you, be it a firearm or any other tool.

As this was a police oficer, it was most likely a GLOCK pistol, once again showing that the “trigger safety” is not enough. A grip safety and or other safety would also have prevented this.

But the fault lies with the deputy. Leaving a loaded firearm floating around in the trunk of a car, with no case or holster is a “recipie for diaster”.

And now she had one. Thus providing more fodder for the anti-gun folks. Making it harder for the rest of us who handle firearms safely.

Best wishes for her recovery. Hopefully she (and the rest of us!) can learn from this to prevent further negligent (not accidental!) discharges.
