Lesson from Maui and Lahaina

We’ve seen it in forest fires in AZ and California. Now Maui as well….

Leave Early. Especially if you have children or pets…..moreso if you want to save horses or the like.

Beat the rush, GTFO as soon as the threat becomes real. Don’t get trapped in a traffic jam, don’t be part of the refugee flood.

Lots of people waited too long. 30 + people are known to have died in the fire, likely more in the traffic jam of burned cars Others barely escaped the traffic jam that ended up with them losing their cars and contents as well as their homes.

Beat the rush, panic early.

Pack up early and be ready. Don’t hesitate to leave.

Greatest line I think I ever heard

At a grocery store:

Kid gets pushed aside by a Punk. Punk says “Watch it kid”

Kid’s dad takes offence at this.

Punk says “You think I’m  ‘sposed to be afraid of you?” (while getting close to Dad in a most threatening manner) “You wanna go?”

Dad (unfazed) says “Nope, but if you don’t apologize to my son, it’s gonna be bad.”

Punk says “You gonna call the cops? You think I afraid of goin’ to jail, man?”

Dad says, “Nope, you’re afraid for what they are gonna take ME to jail for”. (While getting really far into the punk’s personal space)

Pregnant pause.

Punk swallows…backs up. Looks at the kid. Says “Sorry” ….nods to Dad, and walks, (carefully) away. Didn’t run, but didn’t take his time, either.

‘Twas awesome to witness.

Fat Man Spoke

The second of the Atomic bombs used in anger, it was, essentially, the Trinity device all over again, only this time mot an experiment, but used in anger.

It’s use effectively ended the Japanese war making energy. No all wanted to surrender, but enough did want it that it happened….and thus the war ended.

The city (and people) of Kokura was lucky that day….Smoke and weather precluded a good bombing run, so the target was moved to the secondary choice…..Nagasaki.

Luck plays an important part of survival sometimes.

I have been informed

That pointing out the race of the rioters in blue cities like Chicago and New York is Racist. Because I am white and therefore cannot comment on the behaviors of other races.

Fuck you.

I can comment whatever I want. (see, it’s my blog, I pay for the website, I am the editor.)..If pointing out that animal-like behavior of some groups of inner city people makes you uncomfortable, too bad. If pointing out that other racial groups don’t act like animals in similar situations makes you angry, then that too is just too fuckin’ bad.

There is a reason that Africa is like it is. It isn’t anyone else’s fault but the Africans. Deal with that.

Feel free to find another blog to read if truths hurt you.

Once again, NASCAR disses it’s fans for Wokeness

This time, the Noah Gragson debacle.

He “Liked” a post. One that someone, somewhere, on the Left thought was racist (might have been classless, and tasteless, but ’twasn’t racist)….and very few who might be offended by said post are fans of racing anyway.

This is as stupid as the contrived “Noose” thing with Bubba Wallace…..it was a garage door pull but they had to…..for some reason, manufacture an incident so that NASCAR could somehow “prove” that they weren’t racist. Even Bubba was embarrassed by the incident and wished it would have gone away. (Of course, until then, no one cared about Bubba’s ancestors, only his racing…but after that, race WAS an issue)

Now they suspend a kid for free speech. Because some Left-leaning asshole complained.

I stopped caring about NASCAR (was once a rabid fan) when they did the Bubba thing, and it has become less and less important to me for many reasons…But the Wokeness is a great deal of my dissatisfaction with the series.

What NASCAR fails to realize is that the Left leaning folks will never be fans of NASCAR style racing, and alienating the fans that they still have won’t bring those left leaning Woke people into their audience.

Get Woke Go Broke. Bet on NASCAR falling down that well real soon.

The US effectively ended the War in the Pacific.

All the outcries about the deaths of the Japanese? Yeah, they killed more in Tokyo with the fires that the “conventional” bombing caused.

And, frankly, I don’t care. War is about killing people and breaking things until your opponent stops making war and fighting. Period.

The Atomic Bombs were simply a more efficient way to do that.

And honestly, the Japanese deaths mattered less than the American and allied deaths that would have come had they invaded Japan. Keeping THOSE deaths to a minimum is/was a higher goal that worrying about how many Japanese might or might not have died.
