‘Twas a great performance

Had dinner and a concert with my parents and MC in Chicago…

Beautiful afternoon for parking and walking in Wriglyville for dinner and then to the concert.

Early dinner at Mia Francesca.

Then a short walk to the theater to get in line for the concert.

Security at the entrance was a joke. But the security folks did put on a great show….Everyone got scrutinized, patted down, and purses and bags searched….It was, as I said, a great show of security…..

I DID smuggle two knives in, just to see if I could.

Not huge ones, but they could have been.

Hell, I could have carried a 1911 and at least 3 mags, the personal body search was so perfunctory….
Probably not a backpack full of nails though, they were checking backpacks and purses for bottles of alcohol (didn’t want competition for the bar inside).

Event Security during the concert was vigilant, however. Gotta give props for that. I’m not sure what good unarmed security can do, but they WERE watching everyone.

The Rodrigo y Gabriela concert was a good one. Good warm up by Ryan Sheridan and a great performance by the headliners.

All in all a great evening.

I think the Splodey Jihadi types were busy elsewhere….

Quote for the day:

” ‘Tis better to run out of Tangoes than to run out of ammo

A good thought for today’s world….Especially when some of those unvetted Somali refugees recently brought here get with someone from Dearbornistan for support and radicalize some second generation muslims here in the US and start their own brand of shenanigans….

It has already happened: San Bernardino, Orlando, etc (ETA 9-11-01 how could I forget that?). The media has done all they can to discount it, along with the Feds, but you know it for what it is….

Doesn’t have to be Guns or Explosives either, as we have seen in Europe. Trucks, bombs, knives. They all work. Even poison gasses or poisons in water can be used…..if you are a monster….

But here is the thing. If you cower in fear, they win. I am going to a concert tonight in Chicago. There, I have to be unarmed, as they don’t have reciprocity with Indiana (or anyone, I think). I’m not going to miss my concert just because some Islamic Jihadist terrorists have been successful elsewhere.

Otherwise, they win by default.

Gunshow report:

The day was wonderful. Arrived at 11:00 local Saturday. Sunny, Warm, Temps in the upper 70’s. No line at the door.

Lots of ammo, even rimfire. Pricing was better, but not good. I expect that it will continue to decrease a bit.

Nearly anything for sale. Pistols and rifles and all, new or used. Pricing on new was better as well. Lots of AR stuff, pricing was decent if not good.

Few bargains to be found, however.

Attendance was less than expected. I know a fair percentage of the vendors at that show, and they were surprised at the poor attendance. Some folks didn’t think they’d break even.

I didn’t see many buyers. The weather may have affected the attendance some, but even if it were raining I doubt that the venue would have been full. he interest just doesn’t seem to be there now that there is a Second-Friendly Republican in the White House.

I came home with 98.73% of the cash I took. I did order a stock for a project rifle I will be starting.

Disapproving cat….

is disapproving no more

The vet was going to come out at noon. Bob chose his own way out and passed the Bridge at 4 AM instead.

My friend Bob is in pain no more.

Rescued 7 years ago when some asshole abandoned him. He was starving when I found him. Hard to catch fieldmice when it is -15 F. Damned near frozen to death too….All he wanted was food, shelter, and love. I gave that. He gave back in spades.

He was FIV positive. Which is what killed him, ultimately.

‘Twas a good 7 years. I think they were good for him as well. He seemed happy and content until Tuesday. The decline was swift.

I shall miss him. If  y’all could say a word to whomever you pray to for him, that’d be much appreciated.

I might not blog for a bit.

RightThink

Or is it GoodThink?

I can’t seem to be able to tell the difference anymore.

Now they are going after Texas Revolution heroes.

Because slave. Or something

They are, apparently, no longer on the “Approved” list to be held in high esteem in history.

So they are trying to erase them too.

I figured it would morph to something else once they had the whole Confederate Heroes thing well under way.

Once you start burning books and rewriting history, who knows where it will stop.

Road Trip….

Pulling the new (for my brother, anyway) tractor on a trailer for 325 miles. Call it 8500 lbs.

20 MPH headwind the whole way back.

The tractor has a cab, which made us about 10 foot tall. Wind drag was enormous .

Especially at about 78 MPH. Which was pretty much what we cruised at.

The new truck pulled it like a champ. Thirsty though.  . Average out unloaded was 18, average back was…..9.7.  Hard to dislike a diesel with an engine brake. Pulled it like it wasn’t even there. Stopped it too….

No incidents except losing the carcass of a tire on the trailer. Which my brother (who was driving) caught early enough that it was no big deal. Pull over at the next exit, pull the jack and spare and change. No blowout.

Makin’ miles.

It was a good trip. My Dad and my Brother and I don’t get together for shit like that enough anymore.

Road trip!

Gotta pick up some equipment with my brother and father.

Gonna break in the new  truck right. Hauling circa 10K for a couple hundred miles.

Go read the folks on the left side They got more to say and they do it better anyway.

Later

I don’t drink beer much

(or anything at all, mostly) ’cause I like to stay outa jail, and alcohol generally leads there…

But this sort of thing makes my want to buy a case or a 12 pack just to support a company that has the balls to support our veterans.

Memorial Day isn’t about our veterans, but it IS about those they lost. The ones that didn’t come home, the comrades they lost.

Remember, during your hotdogs, burgers, friends or family, the extra day off.

You got it because they gave.

Your freedom is due to their sacrifice.

So raise a glass, take a minute ,think of them. Say “Thank You”. Trust me, they’ll hear it.

Now go enjoy your Memorial Day Holiday.
