Valpo gunshow yesterday.

Lots of people. The line was seldom less than 150 people long, even after noon. My understanding was that at the opening bell there were in excess of 700 people in line, waiting for the doors to open. I don’t know what the attendance numbers will be, but the gate collection must have been huge. Likely the Dunes Rifle and Pistol club made a profit on the day. Big time.

There were few deals to be had. Evil Black Rifles/Assault Weapons were available, but at very high prices. Saw a few enterprising capitalists carrying such rifles for sale, but at highly inflated prices, and few buyers. Ammo was available at inflated pricing. 5.56×45 available in limited quantities at $1.00 per round. Other calibers available at similar prices/availabilities.

Reloading supplies were similar. Pricing was inflated, and supplies/selection was limited.

Pistols were available, in quantities. Prices were fairly high, near MSRP. Sales were…brisk. LOTS of women buying.

Most vendors that I know….And I know a fair percentage of them at this show, all agree that pricing will likely return to near pre-Newtown levels in 3-5 months.  Maybe. Probably. 

I gotta say that the attitude of the crowd was….dispirited. Everyone was, of course, polite. (Never yet seen a gunshow crowd that wasn’t!). But the attitude was not as genial and happy as that of past gushows. Both vendors and buyers were different in attitude. Hard to put a finger on. Stressed.

I did see OG and Partner in passing, but he was coming in as I was leaving, so we didn’t spend much time together….Maybe next time. 

Seems that he isn’t much for “Business as usual” when it comes to politely following the standard practices amongst gentlemen.He has apparently pissed off the Old Guard in both parties.

Ted Cruz is apparently shaking things up because he doesn’t let the “old” ways of doing business keep him from asking the hard questions. Or getting someone to take real action.

That they would allow legislation like THIS to ever make it to committee, rather than quietly take the sponsor out back and beat him discourage them from ever trying with such an attempt in thefirst place.

     4. Any person who, prior to the effective date of this law, was
legally in possession of an  assault weapon or large capacity magazine shall have ninety days from such effective date to do any of the following without being subject to prosecution:

(1) Remove the assault weapon or large capacity magazine from the state of Missouri;

(2) Render the assault weapon permanently inoperable; or

(3) Surrender the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to the appropriate law enforcement agency for destruction, subject to specific agency regulations.

Seriously. Does anyone think that such bills have a chance of passing?  It might work on the East coast where there is a liberal in every garage, or Kalifornia, but in the Midwest?  Seriously, Are they THAT disconnected? Don’t they realize that bills such as these unite the people against them, and anger and alienate even those who are, for the most part, otherwise ambivalent?

And in Wisconsin:

 A Democratic state senator and three Democratic state representatives have circulated draft legislation that would ban civilian possession of hollow point or frangible ammunition.

Notice that the legislators in this instance are from more “urban” settings.

Deal with it, Dude.

You are an illegal alien. You are a lawbreaker. You are illegal to hire and you SHOULD BE deported.

Using other words to describe your status doesn’t change that.

My household  spends THOUSANDS of dollars on Amazon.

If they go this route, it’ll make shopping very inconvenient for me to have to go elsewhere for my books, music and all that other stuff. Books and music are only (maybe) 10% of what I buy through them.

But if they go there, then I’ll stop using them.

I already moved my merchant account from a BOA affiliated credit card processor at my business over the Firearms issue. $400K worth of credit cards now go through another processor due to 2nd Amendment issues.

I’ll wait and see if Amazon clarifies their position.

Luckily, only 500 or so injured. No major injuries, and AFAIK, no one killed. Power and cell phones were disrupted for a while, but nothing permanent.

Just think what could happen with a BIG one. This one was, by comparison, tiny.”Only” 5 tons or so.

The outcome was set in stone once the cops began looking for him. Unless he turned himself in to another county, with news media present, his demise was certain.
