And it is indicative of what is wrong with the Left:
After WEEKS of being out there, the GoFundMe for Bethany MaGee, the poor woman who was set on fire in a Chicago Subway is at $510,000.
Yet, after only a day or two, the fundraiser for Renee Good’s family, the woman who played games with ICE agents and ended up getting shot for it (play stupid games, win stupid prizes!) was closed after it reached $1.5 MILLION .
Not one of those people who donated to support these professional agitators could be bothered to give a dime to a victim of a crime that was perpetrated by a person who was out of jail because of the Leftist judge’s philosophy on crime and punishment. But they would donate to a woman who FAFO’d with ICE (Yes, I think it was murder, and a Bad Shoot, but she chose to be there so I am mostly unsympathetic about the outcome)
I think you might have a bit of false equivalency going on here. Both are horrible, but one both died and left behind children. You can certainly make a case that shouldn’t matter, but in the end humans do weigh these things and those are two powerful factors.
As someone who straddles the line politically, it’s been interesting to watch in the dual echo chambers. I’ve heard nothing about Bethany’s fundraiser from left sources and vice-versa Renee’s from the right. So, it seems like each may reflect the giving inclinations of two almost entirely separate groups (taking into account the clear differences noted above).
“For the Bethany MaGee incident (November 17, 2025): Google News shows approximately 8-9 unique articles in total. These were published almost entirely in a tight window (November 20-26, 2025), with no significant follow-ups since. Coverage came from a mix of national/international outlets (e.g., Newsweek, NDTV, BBC via affiliates) and smaller sites (e.g., Mothership, Read Lion), focusing on the attack details, suspect’s criminal history, and some political commentary. Unique sources: 8. The story generated initial shock but didn’t sustain broader media interest or spawn ongoing narratives.
For the Renee Nicole Good incident (January 7, 2026): Google News surfaces at least 96 unique articles so far, with new ones still emerging hourly as of January 10. These span just the past 3-4 days (January 7-10, 2026), from a wide array of major sources (e.g., CNN, BBC, The New York Times, AP News, Star Tribune) and others (e.g., Mother Jones, Democracy Now!, Truthout). Unique sources: Over 50. Coverage patterns show an immediate explosion on Day 1 (incident reports, timelines), building on Days 2-3 (protests, video releases, political disputes), and continuing today (nationwide rallies, investigations, opinion pieces). This volume already dwarfs MaGee’s total, and it’s likely to grow further as protests and probes unfold.”
I would buy your argument, except that the case of Ms MaGee was also put forth on the national news. Got very little leftist funding
But in nearly no time, there was three times the funding for Ms Good.
You could be right as to the reason, But then you have to consider the murderer Luigi Mangione, who had no kids….But he was a hero to the Left for “Getting back at the insurance companies” who got similar instant donations from leftists….many on the the Left are willing to pony up a few dollars immediately for someone they consider a hero. See also the huge fundraising for Karmello Anthony, the black kid who stabbed and murdered a white kid over nothing but an argument.
The Anthony and Mangione data points would negate your reasoning.
Not discounting what you say, but I don’t think there is any “false equivalency”. The sheer volume of small donations to the Mangione and Good and Anthony funding says that the donors consider them to be heroes worth giving to, whereas Ms MaGee was just a victim and not worth helping.
I think your assumption as to the reason for the “Generosity:”” is incorrect based upon the other two “heroes”.
I think the reason the Left never chose to donate to Ms Magee was because she was white…and her attacker was black.
