Joe (Of Hoosierboy Blog : AKA “Fat in Indiana”) asked in comments:
“If this had happened under Obama would you feel the same, or would this be an out of control gestapo-like agency?”
It’s a valid question:
So folks, ask yourself that question: If this was under the Obama administration, or even back when Clinton was running the show… Or just a few years ago when Biden (wasn’t) running things… Answer honestly…:
Would you view the actions and behaviors of ICE the same way as you do today? Would you blindly and unequivocally support them in the same manner as a lot of you are doing today? …When Trump is running things Vs when a Democrat is running the show?
Reply, or don’t, but DO ask yourself and be honest with yourself in your answer.. Are you being consistent in your your evaluation of THIS federal agency and it’s agents and their actions ?
Remember, ICE today is even less restrained and less well behaved than the idiots we had in the ATF and the US Marshalls service back in the days of Clinton….
I’ll see your 1 dead in Minneapolis and raise you 76 in Waco
So you approve of both?
I am confused. You didnt answer the question
You didn’t really answer the question.
1986 – IRCA period. 1.6 million deportations. Reagan.
Was fine with it back then too.
Were you ok with the tactics used by the Feds against citizens back then too? How about the ATF and the US Marshalls service?
A valid point. When did it become okay for the POTUS to dictate who is arrested and brought to justice. Even the POTUS should be required to follow the laws of the U.S.
I think a lot of the enthusiasm in finding illegals is due to the YEARS of being told by the ICE heirarchy to stop apprehending illegals and allow them to go free. Must have been frustrating to remove the handcuffs and let them walk away. Same as police officers being told to stop arresting petty crime by criminals, which only threw gasoline on the fire. And prosecuting attorneys to stop enforcing the law as well.
A lot of current shock is watching officers do what they did some years back.
When was it all right for a p(resident) of the white house to allow 20 million ILLEGALS to come into our country.
Neither of you are on point:
Do you support these tactics and would you still support them if it were a Democrat in the white house instead of DonnieT
You and I don’t agree on many things, B, as our infrequent discussions via email show. But there is a level of respect in our disagreements. I do agree with your take on the shooting as murder. I also feel many of your responding readers have a warped sense of ‘Justice’.
Was it justified to shoot the woman? A second time? How about the third shot? What about preventing a physician from administering first aid to the victim? Was that justified also?
And the officer’s cell phone footage? Doesn’t that show him circling the vehicle and moving in front of it? Was he trained to move to the front of a vehicle to prevent it from moving?
And what about the conflicting orders? One person is telling her to move her vehicle. Then another one is moving toward the driver’s door telling her to get out. Which order to follow? The first one or the most recent? I recall seeing a police shooting video where one officer is yelling to get on the ground, while another is yelling to get your hands up. Whose command do you follow?
In any case this tragedy could have been avoided by the woman not being in the area in the first place, or by a better trained officer in the rules of the use of deadly force.

“In any case this tragedy could have been avoided by the woman not being in the area in the first place, or by a better trained officer in the rules of the use of deadly force”
Both are true.
The cell phone footage is the most damning part of the evidence. He chose to put himself in the path of the vehicle and was so composed he could video with his left hand while drawing and shooting with his right.
But a point: I doubt he consciously chose to shoot the second or third time. That is muscle memory that is part of most training to shoot to eliminate a threat. Once that began, there were gonna be three shots. I was taught “two and then review” but that was a long time go, I believe the current doctrine is three.
If I remember right , the fbi sniped (murdered) one of the Bundy party that was on the road. Not attempting to run over any one. But I guess that was a good kill to you.
Wilson: To whom are you replying here?
Yes.
Because back then ICE didn’t have to act like they are now because they weren’t constantly under attack from Democrats of all levels, The Tides Foundation (and the other monied organizers), random weaponized AWFLS and some on the right who for some reason decided to h8 on them.
I guess it boils down to it’s (D)ifferent when they do it. 0bama probably treated his detainees worse than Trump could think about doing, but nobody gave a shit then .,,or now even.
Yeah, but ATF and US Marshalls did act back then like ICE does today.
And likely it is true about the detainees.
