50 years ago, over a Labor Day weekend, the GPS navigation system as we know it was conceived. Yep, 1973.
And now we use it for everything. Navigation via your smartphone, crop planting, auto navigation, surveying, aircraft positioning data as well as both aircraft and ship navigation. GPS touched your lives many times each day.
All because of an impromptu meeting over Labor Day weekend 50 years ago.
and when we really need it, it’ll be turned off with the flick of a switch, encrypted. best hang onto them old maps.
While probably true, it wasn’t the point of the post.
