Just something to think about…

When the average “supermarket” has less than 3 days of food on it’s shelf in normal times, THIS is what happens when deliveries are temporarily delayed..

And this is why I prep for at least a weak without availability of food/water/fuel/electricity. etc.

When everyone rushes out just before a storm to buy french toast fixins’ (milk, butter, bread, eggs) then the stores just run out of food….JIT delivery fails when there are delays due to weather.

How long can you go without a trip to the store? Me? It’ll be a while before my roommates and pets need to worry.

Why is it

That the majority of the folks driving on the snowy roads who either:

A. Cannot seem to understand that the snow reduces the coefficient of friction, necessitating a slight decrease in speed in order to remain in full control of the moving vehicle. (generally being found farther down the road either in a ditch or against a tree):

OR…

B. Go all wild eyed, panties in a knot, white knuckled grip on the wheel and drive at 7 MPH (when a slight reduction in speed would suffice)and hold up 2.75 miles of cursing other drivers. :

mostly all seem to have “Obama ’08” stickers (or “Hope and change” stickers) on their cars?

While it is a small sample, there has been a pattern that I have noticed several times this year.

Liberals. Gah.

Christian tolerance.

Ya gotta ask yerself….WWJD?

Assholes. This is just wrong. And they cry when the Muslims do it to Christian spaces. If it was christians who did this, then they get to meet their maker with this sin on their heads.

Fundamentalist of all religions should be stoned to death once they begin forcing their religion on others, no matter what the means.

Me? I am not Wiccan. But I’d still shoot whoever did this without a qualm.

Let God remove those symbols He finds offensive.

’cause we don’t ever need a backup

The US Coast Guard shut down all but 5 of the LORAN-C stations on Monday. Not that they were used much since the constellation of GPS satellites was finally finished, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a backup if the GPS system is damaged or fails?

Defunded in it’s entirety by Mr Obama in October of ’09, in order to save $190 million (yep, just a drop in the bucket compared to his spending so far….).

The fact is, that while it might not be used much, LORAN-C would have provided a backup for long range navigation of air travel and ship navigation, and would have given the US a reliable backup navigation in and around the continental US that was effectively bulletproof, unlike the constellation of GPS satellites, which are easily struck by ASAT weapons.

Obsolete? Sure. Redundant? Yes. But it wouldn’t take much money to keep the system operating, and it sure would have made for a nice backup to the GPS system.

Bush considered killing the system, but chose not to, in order that the country would have a redundant system to GPS. Not so Mr. Obama. Expect the rest of the world to follow the lead of the US.

Perhaps his intent is to weaken this country slowly, incrementally.

Then again, “never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence”

It’s nice that we now have no real backup for our pilots and ships to use, if and when.

This should get interesting:

Seems that the Police Chief in King N.C. has declared a state of emergency due to weather. While this is perhaps no big deal, part of the new rules for the duration of said weather emergency is the banning of the carry of firearms outside of a person’s property. No one is allowed to carry on public property (streets, etc).

It would seem to me that this is exactly the time to carry a firearm. (I, of course, do so every day anywhere that I can legally do so (which is generally everywhere)).

Not that I am unsympathetic to the issues and problems that the C.O.P is no doubt encountering, but to be able to, by declaration, invalidate the second amendment is not something to be taken lightly.

One would wonder if the good citizens of King, NC will allow him to get away with this. I certainly wouldn’t, but so far my sheriff hasn’t tried (I don’t think that he is that stupid). Perhaps the laws in NC allow for such, but not in my home state.

Methinks, unless the citizens of King, NC are all sheep, he will be resigning shortly.

Personally, were it legal for me to carry before the “State of Emergency” I would continue to do so during and after. And, while not making a big deal about it while carrying (concealed, I might add) I would expect to be able to exercise my right unimpeded. If not, I would expect to deal with the issues afterwards. I’d not advertise, but neither would I do so surreptitiously

If he gets away with this, then we know 2 things:

1. never visit King NC
2. the citizens of that county are sheep, and there is no hope for them.

As I said: This should be interesting later.

YMMV

ETA: One thing I thought of after the original post is that if this IS legal…..Then anyone in power can crate an emergency, for any reason.

I am glad that MY state has laws preventing this.

AGW klimate change….The next big fear:

Betcha that THIS is the next big bugword for those who can’t make it in the real world, and need government grant money in order to fund their miserable existence on the sweat of others research handouts.

I just betcha.

It’s just different enough to fool ’em, but it will not fail to cause those who believed in AGW to wet their panties (and probably their women too)

I mean, we had the ozone layer, global cooling, global warming, now “climate change…….This has to be one of the nex tones, if not THE next one.

I mean, let’s face it, these researchers gotta eat too.

Yew herd it here phirst.
