Crying Wolf

So I got an Emergency Alert on my phone today. Tones, flashing light, etc.

Of course, I grabbed the phone and looked at it straight away.

It was warning me that there might be some heavy snow and high winds starting this afternoon in my county…Really not an “emergency” and really not something to use the Emergency Alert system for.

It is a good way to get me and people like me to turn off the Emergency Alerts notification entirely……

If you want a system like that and don’t want people to ignore it, whoever is in charge needs to use a modicum of intelligence as to WHEN to use it.  Like when there is an actual or pending EMERGENCY. This is NW Indiana…we get snow, even lake effect snow, in the winter.  It happens every year. Not an Emergency. It is forecast on all 4 major networks and on the radio. Either way, not what I consider an emergency.

I’m really surprised it didn’t advise me to rush out to the store and get milk and bread.

Last time I got a useless alert was when some stupid bint in the health department decided that it would be a good idea to use the Emergency Alert system to remind me (several times) that I needed to get a Covid jab. I and a whole bunch of others complained about that one and I heard she got her access taken away.

The current excuse

for Agent Ross’s actions seems to be that “Last year he was dragged 200 yards by an arrestee trying to escape”.

This, however does not make a good reason for shooting Ms Good….In fact, it undermines their whole “state of mind” argument.

If he was still disturbed by the prior incident, was his judgement rational? (IF , and it is an IF, we accept that he was, in fact, in fear for his life)…Was his judgement sound? Or was it affected by and based upon PTSD from last year’s incident…, which would make him unfit for such duty as he was on that day,  as his judgement was impaired by previous experiences…..

Not saying this was so, but the excuse about the dragging incident doesn’t help his case….

OOPS!

So I am scanning channels today, and CBS has a show called “FBI”.

Not sure exactly, but it appeared to be something about a militia and a standoff with the FBI and some other Fed police tactical types.

BOTH sides were carrying firearms, but both the tac guys AND the militia were carrying AR-style rifles….with bare full length picatinny rails. No iron sights, not even folded backups….no optics either.  Like at least 5 guns on each side with just bare rails.

Sad, really. I bet the city folks that watch this show are impressed with the scary looking Black Guns.

I find it both amusing and disgusting that they can do a TV show with such obvious prop flaws.

A good question for most of us:

Joe (Of Hoosierboy Blog :  AKA “Fat in Indiana”) asked in comments:

“If this had happened under Obama would you feel the same, or would this be an out of control gestapo-like agency?”

It’s a valid question:

So folks, ask yourself that question: If this was under the Obama administration, or even back when Clinton was running the show… Or just a few years ago when Biden (wasn’t) running things… Answer honestly…:

Would you view the actions and behaviors of ICE the same way as you do today? Would you blindly and unequivocally support them in the same manner as a lot of you are doing today? …When Trump is running things Vs when a Democrat is running the show?

Reply, or don’t, but DO ask yourself and be honest with yourself in your answer.. Are you being consistent in your your evaluation of THIS federal agency and it’s agents and their actions ?

Remember, ICE today is even less restrained and less well behaved than the idiots we had in the ATF and the US Marshalls service back in the days of Clinton….

The worst fallout from the Minneapolis ICE shooting

Is the total loss of credibility for Kristi Noem and Tom Homan. (even moreso as they hide their investigation of this latest debacle from every other state and local agency)

Their twisting of the facts and outright lies about the actions that day in order to protect the agents involved and to justify the shooting have destroyed any credibility they might have had.

Now the entire world knows that what they say may or may not be true and that they will lie and hide facts to cover up the actions of their agents.

No one will ever believe what they say again.

That’s the fallout when you blindly protect the actions of brutal cops that you recruited that were rejected by other police agencies.

Here’s something to consider:

And it is indicative of what is wrong with the Left:

After WEEKS of being out there, the GoFundMe for Bethany MaGee, the poor woman who was set on fire in a Chicago Subway is at $510,000.

Yet, after only a day or two, the fundraiser for Renee Good’s family, the woman who played games with ICE agents and ended up getting shot for it (play stupid games, win stupid prizes!) was closed after it reached $1.5 MILLION .

Not one of those people who donated to support these professional agitators could be bothered to give a dime to a victim of a crime that was perpetrated by a person who was out of jail because of the Leftist judge’s philosophy on crime and punishment. But they would donate to a woman who FAFO’d with ICE (Yes, I think it was murder, and a Bad Shoot, but she chose to be there so I am mostly unsympathetic about the outcome)

Here’s a thought:

Hear me out:

The US (or at least Trump) wants Greenland..

Greenland is a Protectorate (sorta) of the Kingdom of Denmark.

The United States has Puerto Rico. . Puerto Rico is not a State, it is a commonwealth , more or less a protectorate (ish)  it is more or less the same status as Greenland.

I propose we swap them even up.

We here in the US really have no need for Puerto Rico.

Greenland is a Financial drain of Demark. Puerto Rico is a drain on the US.

Denmark lacks a place that is warm, has sun and beaches and such. The Unites States needs an island in the Atlantic that is covered in Ice and Snow much of the year where we can do whatever we want.

Puerto Rico has 3,424 square miles, but it has rum and sun and beaches, Greenland has 836,000 miles, but it is cold and windy. Pretty fair trade for the Danes.

Puerto Rico has 3.2 million people. Greenland has 56,000. Neither island pays their way, tax wise, so that’s a wash.

The Danes give up a lot a square miles of territory, but they aren’t using it, so there’s that. They get a shitload of people in this swap, and warm sunny beaches, which they need, and rum drinks and resorts in which to drink them. The Danes don’t have enough poverty and crime and corruption and poorly educated people that just can’t fix themselves. Puerto Rico has that in spades. Think of the possibilities. But the Danes do need a place to vacation in the sun…

The US gives up a bunch of people on a small island that do nothing for the US but complain and demand more aid to enrich the already rich. We end up getting a whole boatload of land that we don’t really need if we acquire Greenland.  We already have enough beaches and booze, so we don’t need PR for that. We also have all the crime we need, so we can spare the crime and poverty that is Puerto Rico….The Danes need both.

Win-Win all the way around.

Maybe, just maybe we can work a deal. I’d be all for it if we can get rid of Puerto Rico. Maybe we can pay Denmark to take ’em if we make the swap.

I dunno.
