Sometimes I think I do better than with a scope

Just got back from the Range….

Pretty proud of this target.

Peep sighted Savage Mark II rifle at 50 yards. Nice heavy barrel helps a lot.

We just beat the rain.

(yeah, I know it is a “50 foot” target, but that’s the challenge, innit?)

No wind to speak of and from a bench with a front rest and a sandbag. Others used a lead sled, but I am old school. A rest and a sandbag shows your skill. I feel like a Lead Sled is cheating.

Left to right, top to bottom. No sighters.

5 rds per

When we use scopes, we also shoot at the staples…

Only one cup of coffee helps….

I had no spotting scope (and no spotter) so I wasn’t sure how I did until I had shot all 50 rounds. I didn’t see any holes in the white so I figured I was doing pretty good.

Now if I could only shoot like that at the competitions!

  1. Not on my best day have I ever put lead so accurately on targets like that.
    You Ottsta be tickled.

  2. Looks like my zero target in Basic Training with a worn-out A2. I had one flier in the white after a full mag and got chewed out by the drill sergeant for letting down all Yoopers.
