annual time.
The 340 is in partial disassembly while they do all their inspections for the annual
Currently up on jacks so they can check and lube the gearĀ and with the interior and many inspection panels on the wings and fuselage out so they can check stuff like cables and internal structural parts and such.
Prolly get it back after the New Year.
What is an average cost of one of these kinds of inspections? I am sure it ain’t cheap. Is it a good time to do maintenance as well as you described the landing gear work?
They start at about $5k for just labor and some basic stuff like replacement gaskets and such for the inspections. Gear is part of the labor. If it needs gear bearings or whatever they fix that. Or if they find something else that needs to be fixed or repaired it can get REALLY expensive.
The whole idea is to inspect for wear and known issues that history shows can happen….prevent issues before they happen.
CederQ, ya do “preventive maint.” while it’s on stands, torn apart.
Because I’m socially retarded, I forgot to add “Nice bird!” in my comment below.
Even in a partially disassembled state that is a beautiful plane.
THanks, I think so too!
When I got to my 1st permanent, duty base, McConnell AFB, Wichita, Ks, as a puppy fighter crew chief, I was assigned to squadron level Phased inspection. Great OJT before graduating to the flight line.
Finding all the regular and high pressure grease fittings, hiding and lurking. in the bowels sure trained the eyes for details.
