If you can’t define it in less than a sentence you are probably lying (Or you have no idea what you are talking about)
“Don’t Eat UltraProcessed foods”
CBS had an “expert” telling us not to eat “Ultraprocessed” foods..
But when asked what makes a food “Ultraprocessed” there was no clear definition.
“Basically, read the ingredients….if you can’t pronounce what is in it then it is probably ultraprocessed and that is probably bad for you”.
I can’t believe they allow “experts” like this on national TV to spread their pseudoscience beliefs.
The worst part is that other women will believe what this lady said and.
If your thumb does not cover the list of ingredients, put it back.
Pseudoscience is all it is. No real data behind it…
Actually one of the easier ways to ferret out this stuff is simply look at the percentage of daily required sodium in the ingredients. You will rarely find a frozen entree for example with less than a 30% number attached. For snack foods, look at the sugar percentage and the important “added sugar” amount, if the former is over 20% or the latter is over half the total sugars, put it back. There are whole aisles in the grocery store you will never go down again.
Bot of your statements are true.
But really, those are not hard to pronounce. Most food has too much sodium and sugar in it, unless you cook it yourself.
If your definition is “don’t know how to pronounce that ingredient” then your advice and expertise is suspect.
I don’t know, I can pronounce flour, yeast, salt, sugar, eggs, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, baking soda. There seems to be much more on a label that I cannot pronounce and therefore I will not consume. But hey my advice and expertise is for me and mine, I really don’t care what you suspect.
So if it was disaccharide, sodium choride, diglycerides, sodium bicarbonate, etc. along with those eggs and flour and vanilla you n wouldn’t eat it?
Thanks for you most helpful comment.
