No more pennies

What an asinine decision.

Proportionately, we lose more money minting nickels and quarters per unit.  SO by the logic we should stop minting those first.

Of course, it could be an opening gambit to stop cash and force us to a digital currency.

  1. There was a time when pocket change was real money. When single coins could purchase food, goods, and services. Inflation has destroyed the value and usefulness of low value coins.

We should get rid of the penny and the nickel. We should also eliminate the dollar bill.

We should keep the dime, at least for now. Keep the quarter and mint more dollar coins. We might even consider a five dollar coin.

    • 10 years old, my grandmother and uncle to me for a trip to Springfield Illinois (1974). When I left, my mom gave me $2.
      It was 8 quarters……………………..
I thought I was the richest fucker in the world with 8 pieces of silver in my hands !!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Today, $10, face value, 90%, US silver junk coins, will buy a good, entry level AR carbine or pistol.

    • and what, exactly, does Junk Silver have to do with pennies?

BTW, sometimes you come up as “Tree Mike”, and other times as “Tree Mike” with some other asinine shit attached to the end.

Which is your correct handle and why are you using two different names if you aren’t a Fed?

      • Tree Mike; eff bee eye code name Foghorn Leghorn (remember him?), I decided, offended you. I already explained why I chose that name, so won’t waste your time with that again. So mostly. I use the, hopefully, less offensive, Tree Mike.
Since I’ve hung out with cops, veterans, shipyard workers, tree and landscape types my whole life, a rather coarse crew, I come across as a smartass, low class, uncouth, weird jerk to some folks. Other people with a more blue collar, more coarse sense of humor, think I’m a funny guy ( there’s just no accounting for some people’s taste). I’m not overly concerned about what people think about me, which contributes to my off putting, for some, attitude.
I’m also quite cynical about today’s reality and quality of modern citizenry.
I did a short stint in real estate appraisal ’02-’09 and communicated like an educated, professional White man, even though I’m just a red neck. Now, my online personality is a bit more irreverent.
Unfortunately, honest to a fault. I think that’s because either I or my social filter, is broken/retarded.
Seems to me that my whole schtick would make me a rather poor Fed.
My take on you doesn’t matter. But you certainly hang with a more refined, sophisticated, successful, class of folks.
I only ever made $150k or a little more, a year, between ’04 and ’08. After the big crash of ’09, I’ve been in the “poors” and I’m OK with that. Though, I do envy your pilot status. If I’m too offensive, you’ll likely, let me know, and I’ll keep my visits to lurker status. Won’t stop visiting, your blog is too good to pass on.
        Apologies for the ramble.
