Worth Considering…..

Trump floats idea of reviving “Mental Institutions”>

Of course, the Left went apeshit, as expected.

But at some point, some folks simply cannot and should not be “mainstreamed” into society…sometimes for their protection and sometimes for societies protection. Yes, some criminals are put in prisons, bit others, a danger to society in general, need to be removed as dangerous.

Of course, who makes that decision is the slippery slope, mind you.

But fully 2/3 of the “Unhoused” living in homeless camps are somewhat mental. The rest are mostly also drug addicts, which could also be classified as a mental issue.

I fully expect that the Left will fight idea this tooth and nail

  1. Yep, it is more than time to have mental institutions that can keep those who can’t control themselves away from society. It’s also a good idea for them as they have a chance to be properly cared for as well and not cast out on the street untreated until they commit serious crimes.

  2. Which is funny – because leftist love to claim the problem with mental health is that Reagan closed the mental hospitals.

Now they are going to fight opening them back up?

  3. There are many who need the structure and safety of an institution. It would take the onus off the police, who are constantly excoriated because the families of mentally ill people call them when they get out of control and then, if the police are attacked and defend themselves, there is screaming. It’s a no-win.

  4. A side issue to all of this….or maybe just another slant on understanding….
When there were “insane asylums”, the really worst of the worse were safely ensconced in an institution. And the ones that were eccentric kept to themselves.
Now it seems as if that threat of confinement, which has been removed, allows the worst of the worse free range.

  5. I have had close contact in the past 30 years with homeless people.
    99% of them are addicts/mental.
It is a very slippery slope as to whom decides to put people away.
