Earthquakes affect the building top to bottom, weakening the whole support structure. In the 9-11 incident , the planes hit near the top of the buildings , the support structure was still 75+ percent intact.
Ya know, I’m not a structural engineer but if the fires in the building weakened the steel and one floor collapsed on the one below it……………………….

Even my chosen career path was nursing, I took several Physics and geology classes for my science requirements and know the angle of momentum for buildings are down… unless acted on by a force greater than its balance can it topple sideways. Gravity is a cold bitch. I just shake my head at the ignorance and lack of a proper education that doesn’t stop people from spurting their comments.
Have you ever cut a tree down and had it fall exactly as you thought – every time? Amazingly buildings exhibit the same behavior, it is physics actually and not a random night course variety.
If you are comparing a semi-rigid object like a tree falling to a building collapsing then you must not be much of an engineer. An real engineer understanding structures wouldn’t even begin to make such a comparison. What kind of engineer are you?
I always wonder why people are vociferously opposed to alternate theories. Your house, your rules, but not rational. And I am an engineer.
So explain then the “alternate theory: that the Twin Towers weren’t felled by a multi-ton plane impacting and then burning inside of them. What plausible “alternate theory” would you promulgate? (plausible being an important word here)
And how somehow a building is supposed to fall anywhere but “in it’s own footprint” when such a disaster happens?
