That must have been a fairly sophisticated bomb….

I mean, whoever built the bomb that was used in the attack on the Palm Springs Fertility Clinic did a good job.

If you look carefully, you might notice that the force of the explosion was almost entirely unidirectional. Not out to the sides so much, but almost exactly and entirely forward. (look at the overhead photos)

This was a fairly sophisticated engineered device. Not just a gob of explosives in a car.

  1. I’m not sure that I agree. My reading of the scene based on the video is that the seat of the explosion on top of the kerb, within a few feet of the building. The device was most likely in the vehicle’s trunk and the vehicle had been backed into position to place the device as close as possible.
I think the debris pattern you can see is a combination of two things; the vehicle’s bodywork and the building’s construction. The vehicle’s bodywork helped to direct the blast and the internal walls (probably stud partitions) could not contain the shock wave as it passed through the building.

    • Perhaps you are right….I am no expert on BDA. I would assume you know more about such things than myself.

But it sure looks focused….almost no spreading. Perhaps the interior walls could account for that, but I would doubt that they are all that strong. Again, I could be wrong.
