Did you know that St Patrick was not, in fact, Irish? He was british, and was kidnapped by Irish raiders as a young boy. He escaped back to britain, became a cleric, and returned to Ireland as a missionary.

It was there, as a missionary, that he used the shamrock as an illustration of the Trinity….forever associating him with the three leafed clover.
