SO Obama lerans a lesson?

Seems that Mr. Ahmadinejad doesn’t like Mr. Obama. When Obama made a statement about the crackdowns in Iran, Mr Ahmadinejad got petulant and blustery and antagonistic. I guess that Obama might have to learn a lesson here. The culture of the Persians is one where accommodation and cooperation and being conciliatory is taken as a sign of weakness, and when you hold your ground (not that Obama has done much but criticize, and was late to do that) then you become an enemy again. How much ground did he gain with Iran by being conciliatory? Zero. If anything, his conciliatory tone made Iran braver.

You’d think that someone as educated as Obama would have understood that, but he didn’t, and now he gets a lesson. How many more lessons will he have to learn this way?

He is showing that he is as weak as Carter, and just as (if not more) inept in the way he handles our foreign policy. He has not gained ground with our enemies and has effectively insulted our allies.

I learned a long time ago, on the school playground, that the best way to handle a bully is to step on his toes until he apologizes. Apparently, Barry never got that lesson, and is learning it now. (if he ever does).

Accommodation in the attempt to create dialog assumes that the other person is willing to accommodate in return. Barry is learning that not all cultures are willing, and not everyone is a mild mannered liberal in their thinking.

I hope he learns quickly, before he makes a bigger mess of things than what we already have.

An interesting thought:

The left, who cried and cried about the Florida recount in 2000, who cried that the election had been stolen (it wasn’t. BTW) has yet to stand up and be counted as being against the current regime in Iran, who may have actually stolen an election.

Interesting, isn’t it. They cried that they had been ripped off when they were the losers, all about the “theft of an election” and “theft of democracy” and all that. Jimmeh Carter monitors elections in many countries (or at least, pretends to) for fairness and honesty, yet we hear NOTHING AT ALL from the left regarding the election in Iran.

Strange, isn’t it?

(the above question was, in case you are having a bad day, rhetorical….) We are, after all, talking about the left.

Iran?

Again with the knife shit.

Via LawDog comes this GEM.

I urge you to write, call, email, fax, send a carrier pigeon, telex, or whatever (sometimes I dream of delivering my message wrapped around a rock tossed through a window…..but then again, I don’t like jail) your congressman (woman) or representative and tell them that the customs department has gone a bit to far in their attempt to make the world safe for everyone. This issue has been brewing for a while, but now that the Customs service has decided not to consider changes to the proposed law, the time has come for us to do something.

I like my SOG twitch. I use it as a tool. Not as a weapon (although I could, but then again, I could use a hammer or a large wrench as a weapon too). I like the ability to open the thing with one hand and it is handy to be able to do so when working on something in a confined space or when holding something with the other hand.

There comes a time when the regulation by our government become oppressive enough, and irritating enough that something must be done.

Deliver the message to your congresscritters please. (don’t use a rock, tempting though it might be).

Or allow another small bit of regulation to crumble your freedom just a bit more.

“Don’t shoot fast, shoot good.”

and then there is the classic:

“If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.”

But my favorite is:

“You can say ‘stop’ or ‘alto’ or use any other word you think will work, but I’ve found that a large bore muzzle pointed at someone’s head is pretty much the universal language.”

Your mileage may vary….

Fer Christ’s sake, lets never let anyone hurt themselves or anyone else

Because, your know, we gotta make the world safe for everyone, even fools and/or drunks.

Via FERFAL, I bring you this knife from Britain. Is it any wonder the British Empire is no more, with thinking like this? Soon, I am sure, this will be the only type of knife allowed on Britain, with forced exchange of your current knife for one of the new design. Read the website, realize that it is designed to prevent you from being able to stab or cut anything that is not food.

I have indeed cut myself with a kitchen knife, (but I didn’t like the resultant pain and bleeding, so I try not to do it anymore) but if the referenced knife will not do to stab anyone, then I would find another tool for the job, should I be inclined towards homicide. If you are too stupid to operate a knife, (or too drunk, or whatever) then you deserve to cut yourself. You’ll either bleed to death eventually (cleansing the gene pool) or learn not to cut yourself or to operate a knife while drunk.

How safe is the world supposed to be? Can the state remove anything that could be a weapon from everyone and still allow us to do anything? Or is that the point? (or lack therof).
