So I was supposed to test fly the 340 on Wed with a mechanic at 9AM in order to try to track down an intermittent pressurization issue….
And the forecast was for storms….very intense storms.
As we could not get out in time to do the tests and come back before the storms hit, we cancelled.
The forecast 24 hours before was for thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail arriving about 10:00 AM
The forecast 12 hours prior was for heavy rains, thunderstorms and hail arriving about 9:30 AM
The forecast 4 hours before was hail, heavy rain, and thunderstorms arriving about 10:30 with very low ceilings and poor visibility.
I called for weather briefing at 8 AM and got the detailed aviation forecast: Heavy rain, hail, extremely gusty winds, and thunderstorms arriving between 9:30 and 10:30AM. Low clouds and poor visibility.
So since we could not depart, climb, do the tests, and return before the expected 9:30 weather, we cancelled.
We got rain. at 11 AM. Mild rain, no hail, no thunderstorms, nearly calm winds with a ceiling about 8,000 feet and 6 or more miles of visibility. Just an hours long rain shower.
There was a forecast for later in the day for even more intense thunderstorms. We got nuthin’…..nuthin’ but rain. Nearest thunderstorm was at 10 PM 70 miles to the north.
These are the folks that claim that they can predict the weather 20 and even 50 and 100 years in the future. Yet they cannot predict with any accuracy the energy state of the weather even as far as 1 hour in the future.
The same folks who have told us Global Warming Climate Change was going to kill us all in the next 10 years…for the past 40 years.
I think their models need a bot of tweaking.
