The standards don’t have to meet you.
Pete Hegseth sets new rule: One standard of fitness for everyone: No breaks for women when it comes to strength or other fitness standards in combat arms…either meet the standard or don’t.
Many women, of course, are up in arms about it. They want to be “equal” and they “can do anything a man can do”…..but when it comes to meeting standards then that’s different…..
I was a telephone man in the Coast Guard. The first class in the telecom course was pole climbing. We were told that if we couldn’t complete that class, we couldn’t be telecom techs, and that we’d be “re-tracked” to the Electronics Technician school. We had one woman in the class. She could not complete the class, the final exam being climbing a 45ft pole with lineman’s gaffs. She got a tird of the way up the pole and froze. I mean she FROZE! Two other students had to perform a pole-top rescue to get her down. She was allowed to continue the course for no other reason than having a vagina. We were PISSED!!! ‘Didn’t matter though. The CG had to show it had some vaginas with hardhats, so she got a pass.
I’m not against a woman doing that kind of work as long as she can DO that kind of work! There was girl in another class who fell from the top of a 25ft pole and broke her arm. ‘Injuries like that happened to a lot of the students. She too, was told she could continue without passing the pole climbing class. She said “HELL, NO! I’m going to PASS this class before I graduate!!!” She did, too. The telecom course was almost a year long. It took almost all that time for her arm to heal. A week before grad, after not being on a pole for almost a year, she CLIMBED that damned pole! THAT is the kind of woman we needed, but so rarely got on our crews!
…And for the record, this happened in 1980. This “woke” cancer was already spreading in the the military as far back as then…
Black letter law and rules for all. Perform or do something else.
Fk a buncha grey exceptions.
