What they really mean is “My argument is absolute crap, and I know it, and I can’t show anything to disprove what you say but I don’t want to hear any dissenting opinions or see any facts because my mind is closed and I don’t care to learn…. I want to believe what I want to believe ….so I can follow the agenda”
Anyone saying “The Science is settled” is obviously ignorant about “Science”.
The whole idea of science, is that nothing is ever settled, and you should question and test everything. Forever. We still conduct experiments about the speed of light, we still measure gravity, we still… because anyone who knows anything about science knows at one point in time it was settled-science that the sun revolves around the earth. People even died for the idea. Now we know that’s false. Because Science is never settled. Ever.
Anyone suggesting otherwise is not only lying to you, but showing their abject ignorance as well.
