The worst thing is that they have been led to believe by their sisters that doing all of those things to themselves somehow makes a difference…that that aberrant, childish, flat out stupid behavior somehow can change things. I understand that it is somehow making them feel more a part of the tribe of women or something, but they simply are playing childish girl games, they aren’t fixing anything…..But they somehow believe that they are.

We all saw it happen… When they were kids they wanted Lucky Charms cereal (or any other high-fructose corny syrup delivery system). Mom said “No sweetums”, and the kid went apoplectic, thrashed around on the floor wailing and screaming….
My Mom grabbed my wrist, marched me out to the car, whooped my ass in the back seat for embarrassing her in public, and that was the last time I ever did anything even remotely close to that.
