Am I (Apparently I am) the only one who has a Jones for 1911 in .357 Sig? I want one more than I want a Coonan (and that is pretty bad).

Apparently the market for such a firearm is not more than the one I would buy.

I can find ’em in .45 ACP, .40 S+W (which should make it easy to change to .357Sig because it is, after all, the parent cartridge ) 10mm and 9mm, but not in .357Sig…..Why is that?

(Yes, I know there are conversion barrels for the .40’s (and some .45’s). But the reviews are terrible and apparently they take a huge amount of hand fitting and the reliability just doesn’t seem to be there)

  1. Dude, get a 38 Super and be done with it. 125 gr. HP @ 1380 fps out of a 5" gun. A LW Commander is my EDC.

PS: 1911s don't work well with other than straight walled cases. Also, the Super is the same OAL as the 45 acp, so it feeds like a demon. Reliability counts.

  2. Still a lot of velocity left on the table from .357 Sig to .38 Super.

    But yes, reliability counts.
